Oliver Rogers was born and raised on a farm in Jeffersonville, Kentucky. From an early age, his parents taught him the value of daily work and Sunday rest and worship.

Oliver attended college in his home state of Kentucky at Morehead State University. After graduating with a B.S., he spent two years managing a farm supply partnership business with his brother, and then was drafted into the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War for two years. His decision to enter the ministry was made while serving in the United States Army Security Agency.

Oliver received his M.A. degree from Harding University, completed special studies at David Lipscomb University and Wheaton College, and completed studies toward the Ph.D. in New Testament and Early Christian Literature at the University of Chicago. The extensive education he received before and during his religious career not only enriched his ministry but also supplied him with the tools and knowledge he needed to later write The Faith of Christ.

He has served as senior minister for two congregations of the Church of Christ for forty years and presently serves as an elder for the North Central Church of Christ in Indiana.

In addition to authoring The Faith of Christ, Oliver has contributed to three other books and authored numerous articles. He has won several awards, including the Saggamore of the Wabash, an honor bestowed by the governor of the State of Indiana for service rendered to the community and state. Rogers was also honored as the 2001 Alumnus of the Year of Harding Graduate School of Religion and is listed in “Who’s Who in American Colleges and Universities.”

Oliver considers his greatest achievement to be his family. He and his wife Norma Crosby Rogers have been blessed with four children and nine grandchildren.
